The Medway Labour and Co-operative Group send their congratulations to the Royal Family on this special day for our nation, her Platinum Jubilee.

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of the Medway Labour and Co-operative Group said: “This will be the first anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne since the passing of her husband Prince Philip. The entire nation shared her grief and sorrow at that moment. The strength and decorum with which Her Majesty conducted herself through that troubling period is a true testament to her character.

“On this special day we celebrate the extraordinary, unprecedented achievement of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in being our Head of State for 70 years, and wish for many more years of her reign to come.”

Cllr Siju Adeoye, member for Chatham Central said: “All of us in the Medway Labour and Co-operative Group would like to send our congratulations to Her Majesty The Queen on this special day. She has represented our country with distinction during all the highs and lows over the last 70 years, and I know I won’t be alone in raising a glass to our Queen and wishing her all the best as she continues to be our monarch. At the last council meeting I raised allowing street parties to happen here in Medway without charges, I hope we get that position confirmed shortly so all communities across Medway can celebrate this platinum jubilee.”
