It’s
one rule for them … and another for everyone
else.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The arrogance of the Tories running Medway Council has been caught
on camera.
On Monday evening, three of Medway’s top Tories parked their cars
in the disabled parking bays at the Council’s Gun Wharf
offices.
With the rest of the car park deserted, it shows that they feel the
rules don’t apply to them – just to everyone else.
What makes it worse is the cabinet responsibilities that each of
these Tories holds:
· Cllr Reh Chishti is responsible for parking enforcement, and
is a Parliamentary Candidate
· Cllr Alan Jarrett is the Deputy Leader of the Council with
responsibility for the finances including income from parking
fines
· Cllr Tom Mason is responsible for adult social care
including those with disabilities
Both Cllrs Chishti and Jarrett have previously been snapped at the
Council’s former civic centre parked on double yellow lines and the
pavement – which demonstrates this is not a one-off incident but
simply contempt for the rules.
Cllr Glyn Griffiths, Deputy Leader of the Labour Group, who took
the pictures, said “These Tories are responsible for enforcing
parking restrictions on the rest of the community and for looking
after the interests of disabled adults. If ever there was a case of
don’t do as we do, do as we say – this is it.”
