  Ward Improvement Fund: Broomhill

Cllr Stephen Hubbard has given £120 towards the Broomhill Park Open Day

The Friends of Broomhill, a Strood community group founded in 2006, are again working with the Council’s Greenspaces department to deliver a community Broomhill Park Funday on Sunday 27 June.  This will be the third annual Funday Event - building on the success of the last two years.

At last year's event activities included making a human sundial, parachuting teddy-bears, around the Park Quiz, face painters, judging the winners of the model plane competition, many stalls and music & dancing displays.

This year’s Funday will be history themed around Broomhill’s Battle of Britain (70th anniversary) connection – a Messerschmitt 109 crashed on the hill in September 1940.

And hopefully the Funday will see the ‘launch’ of the Broomhill Park Environmental Enhancement - Viewing Points and Junior Play Area.  The funding for this comes for the council’s the wave 2 Playbuilder programme and hopefully a contribution from the Friends bid from the Big Lottery’s Community Spaces fund.
