Labour Councillor Calls for Better Lighting in Alleyway

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Labour Councillor, Bill Esterson is calling for more lighting in the New Cut, the alleyway which runs from Dock Road to Brompton High St. This follows a request from the Brompton PACT and a petition signed by several hundred residents.
Labour councillor Bill Esterson said, “The alleyway is very well used by Brompton residents and the lower part of the alleyway is very dark at night. There have been a number of attacks over the years in the alleyway and I believe the time has come for the council to install extra lighting on safety grounds. It was very good to see that many people signed the petition even thought they don’t use the alleyway.”
Chairman of the Brompton PACT, John Jones said, “The Brompton PACT works very hard to improve the community in Brompton and the council can show its support for local people by installing these lights. “
