| | Labour Selects Adam Price to fight Rochester South and Horsted By-Election | |
|
Labour Party members in Rochester South and Horsted have selected experienced former councillor, Adam Price as their candidate for the council by-election on 8 May.
Adam was Labour’s childrens’ services spokesman until last year and used to work for the health service. Adam is 50 years old.
Adam said, “I believe the biggest issue in this election will be the campaign to save Robert Bean Lodge Old People’s Home and Day Centre from closure. I will work with local people to change
the council’s policy on this issue and keep this vital service open. I am certainly opposed to the plan to sell the site for housing.”
Adam is also committed to protecting our greenspaces and to improving housing for local people. He said, “I am concerned at the plans for the redevelopment of Mid Kent College which show a
loss of green space as part of the development. The new housing should be a direct replacement for the existing college buildings and should not touch the open spaces next to the college. I also
want the development to have affordable housing both to buy and to rent for local people as there is a big shortage of affordable housing in Medway.”
