The Medway Labour and Co-operative Group welcome the news that there will be a bid from Medway Council to secure more funding and investment for Gillingham.

Cllr Naushabah Khan, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Spokesperson for Housing and Member for Gillingham South said:

“The Medway Labour Group wholeheartedly supports any attempt to secure investment for Gillingham. This is the town I grew up in and love, and it pains me to say we’ve been neglected for far too long. At this year’s Budget meeting I raised this issue of the underfunding of Gillingham, and I’m pleased to see that after this an effort is now being made to regenerate our community.”

Cllr Andy Stamp, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Member for Gillingham North said:

“We’ve been on record as criticising the neglect of a skills hub and high street regeneration from the last levelling-up bid for Gillingham. It’s vitally important that any investment is geared towards creating jobs and developing skills. We are therefore very pleased to see that this current bid has taken local Labour councillors feedback on board.”
