Councillors from the Medway Labour and Cooperative Group were delighted to attend the opening of a new fitness hub for staff at Medway Maritime Hospital.

The opening of the new gym was financed partly by personal donations adding up to £1,000 from Medway Labour Councillors.

Cllr Teresa Murray, Medway Labour and Cooperative Group’s Deputy Leader and Health Spokesperson said:

“We were enthusiastic to financially support the opening of this new facility as tribute to the sacrifices and dedicated public service from the staff at Medway Maritime Hospital in the last couple of years.

“Medway Labour acknowledges their hard work, thanks them for it, and promises to always to fight in their corner when it comes to local politics”

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of the Medway Labour and Cooperative Group, added:

“It was great to attend the opening of the new fitness hub at Medway Maritime Hospital. The creation of the NHS is undoubtedly one of the one of the greatest legacies of any Labour government in Britain.

“I’m sure I speak not only on behalf of Medway Labour, but in unison with our entire local community when I say we all need to do more to acknowledge the contributions made by NHS staff in helping our society.”
