Labour Councillors are working with Medway residents affected by flooding, worst hit areas include Luton, Capstone, and parts of Walderslade.

Cllr Simon Curry, Councillor for Luton and Wayfield said, ‘I visited areas affected by flooding early this morning, including Nelson Terrace where the response by Medway Council, Kent Fire and Rescue, and MHS was quick and effective.

‘I pay tribute to hardworking frontline staff who have worked hard to prevent damage to property and reassure residents.

‘The areas that have been worst hit by flooding were affected by worse flooding last year, so it’s clear that we need a long term solution to this issue. I look forward to discussing possible solutions at the next PACT meeting.’

Cllr Tristan Osborne, Councillor for Luton and Wayfield said, ‘We have met with residents this morning and many are worried about a repeat of heavy rainfall and have asked for better drainage in Luton and Capstone Road.’

The next Luton PACT meeting: July 22nd, 2019. Meeting starts at 19.30, doors 1900. All welcome meeting being held at Luton Library, Nelson terrace.
