The Medway Labour and Co-operative Group are disappointed to learn that bus prices will once again be rising for local residents. All single and return fares will go up by a flat rate of 6%, meaning an adult day ticket in Medway will now cost £6.10. Children’s fares will also be rising by the same proportion.

Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Spokesperson for Regeneration, Culture and the Environment said: “As it stood Medway residents already were paying some of the highest rates in the country to just use the bus, so this news will come as another sucker punch for Medway’s bus users. This follows the failure of our area to secure any funding from the government’s bus network fund.

“The status quo when it comes to our public transport system is completely unacceptable. Upon taking office in next year’s local elections, Medway Labour would urgently prioritise creating an integrated local transport plan that would strive to improve conditions for local residents whether they walk, cycle, take the bus or drive.”
