Labour’s Luton and Wayfield councillors have issued the following comments now the opening of the Youth Foyer at Russell House is going ahead.

Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Spokesperson for Regeneration, Culture and the Environment and Member for Luton and Wayfield said:

“We have been on record as opposing the opening of the Youth Foyer at Russell House. We have real concerns this being an inappropriate location to house vulnerable young people. Now the opening is going ahead, we will continue to work closely with MHS on behalf of local residents to ensure that the interests of the local community and the young people who will be moving in here are taken into account.”

Cllr Jo Howcroft-Scott, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Member for Luton and Wayfield added:

“Following conversations between Luton and Wayfield’s Labour councillors and the relevant bodies, we are pleased that the new building will include office space for PCSOs and local community groups. We hope this new office space for these vital groups will serve to improve our community and protect young vulnerable people.”
