Disappointment As Energy Companies Fail To Support Local Charities

Following the recent cost-of-living summit with fantastic local charities and religious groups who are doing their best to provide relief for those most in need, the Medway Labour and Co-operative Group resolved to write to the energy companies to see if they could provide discounts for organisations who were running places of warmth.

We are very disappointed that we have yet to receive a positive response from them.

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of the Medway Labour and Co-operative Group said:

“The existence of so many fantastic charitable local organisations makes me proud to be an elective representative in this area. We are therefore very disappointed that it seems the energy companies have been unwilling to support these kinds of schemes.

“I know Medway’s charities and religious groups will still do their best to help in these tough times, but it would have been nice for energy companies who are posting record profits to support these projects that will provide relief for those who are struggling in this unprecedented crisis.”

Cllr Teresa Murray, Deputy Leader of the Medway Labour and Co-operative Group added:

“As councillors who are listening to our communities, we understand the difficulties that have been posed as a result of the Conservative’s cost-of-living crisis. We will continue to do our utmost to ensure that as much as possible is provided to struggling local residents who are unfairly paying the price for the incompetence of the Tories at Westminster.”
