Last Thursday at the Special Meeting of Medway Council Members agreed to go out to consultation on the Hoo Development Framework. This is a key piece of infrastructure planning for Hoo, and also for the whole of Medway.

Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Spokesperson for Regeneration, Culture and the Environment said:

“These are a very important set of proposals related to the future of the Hoo Peninsula and Medway. We would strongly encourage all residents, community groups and Parish Councils to fully engage with the consultation process.

“At the Special Council meeting last week the disarray and disunity of our local Conservative Group showed no sign of healing. However, the 21 Labour councillors were able to show the clarity and leadership needed to ensure this went out to the community for consultation. We were also able to bring about an extended consultation period of 9 weeks so all residents have the chance to have their say.

“It is clear that on the most important issues facing Medway the Tories are not capable of showing the unity and competence required to deliver results for our area. The Labour Group are ready to win next May and give residents the functioning Council they deserve.”
