Medway Labour & Co-operative Group will nominate Cllr Siju Adeoye for Medway’s new Deputy Mayor.

Medway’s new Deputy Mayor will be decided by Medway Councillors at Full Council on Thursday 23rd January.

Cllr Siju Adeoye, Medway Labour & Co-op Councillor for Chatham Central said, ‘I am grateful to my Labour colleagues who will be nominating me on Thursday for the role of Deputy Major.

‘Medway has been my home for nearly two decades, and I’m proud to be serving on its council. If elected on Thursday I will stand up for all parts of Medway as its Deputy Mayor, and will celebrate the diversity of our nearly 300,000 residents.’

Cllr Jo Howcroft-Scott, Medway Labour & Co-op Councillor for Luton and Wayfield, who will nominate Siju said, ‘It gives me great pleasure to nominate Cllr Siju Adeoye as Medway’s Deputy Mayor. Siju is the correct choice after the previous deputy mayor was forced to resign by Conservative Party Headquarters.

‘Siju is a role model and fantastic in bringing our communities together. In the deputy mayors role Siju will be a positive role model to all. She will be a credit to the role. As a strong woman Siju is an agent for change, hardworking, bright, and assiduous and a credit to Medway.’
