The Medway Labour and Co-operative Group were delighted to sit down and converse with local businesses over breakfast on Thursday morning. The event was very well attended as businesses heard about Labour’s plans for local government in Medway.

Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of the Medway Labour and Co-operative Group said:

“We know the past few years have been extremely challenging for businesses in our area with the impact of Coronavirus, and then the subsequent economic and energy crisis. As a Group we called this meeting today to sit down and listen to their concerns, and to discuss our priorities for local businesses if there is a Labour Council in Medway after May 2023.”

Cllr Lauren Edwards, Member for Rochester East added:

“As a Labour Group we believe that if Medway is to succeed, it is vital that our local businesses succeed too. Therefore it was valuable to have this time today to talk with those involved in the running of small businesses locally. There was particularly lots of interest in the room around our election pledge to create 1,000 new local jobs and completely regenerate our High Streets.

“I’d like to thank the Federation of Small Businesses Kent for co-hosting the event with us and look forward to working closely with them and the local business community in future.”
