The Medway Labour and Co-operative Group celebrated the news that our area’s parks have once again received numerous Green Flag Awards, which are awarded to public spaces that promote standards of good management and best-practice.

Cllr Simon Curry, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Spokesperson for Regeneration, Culture and the Environment said:

“As we celebrate this great news, it’s important to remember that these awards wouldn’t have been possible without the work of some key groups. Special tribute should be paid to the local volunteer groups based at these parks, to Medway Norse, and the Greenspaces teams, whose efforts have all played a vital part in securing these awards for our towns.”

Cllr Pat Cooper, member for Gillingham North, added:

“It’s great that we have once again won Green Flags for 8 of our parks in Medway. Such an outcome being repeated again is testimony to the continuing hard work of our local volunteers.

“On a personal level, I’m delighted that my local Hillyfields Community Park in the Gillingham North Ward has once again been awarded the Green Flag status. This park is a focal point of our community and is loved and valued by residents across my ward.”
