The Medway Labour and Co-operative Group have encouraged eligible families to take up the offer of free school meal vouchers from Medway Council over the winter holidays if they are needed.

Cllr Clive Johnson, Medway Labour and Co-operative Group Spokesperson for Children and Young People said:

“We had been highly critical of the failure of the Medway Conservative Council to provide free school meal vouchers for struggling local families during the summer holidays. We are relieved to see they’ll be taking a different approach this winter. If you’re from an eligible family, you’ll be able to apply for these vouchers over the winter holidays – please see the information printed below.”

• All eligible children will receive one week’s vouchers automatically.
• Children will be encouraged to attend the Medway Go activities that will run for one week of the Christmas break.
• If children are not attending Medway Go and they are eligible for FSMs, they will be entitled to an additional week’s vouchers; however:
• They must apply for the additional week.
